When it comes to honesty or truthfulness, it decreases from feet to head, feet being the most honest part of body. Legs, are also very helpful in knowing true feelings, emotions, and thoughts of a person. Therefore, you need to know the language of legs in order to use it appropriately in an interview or during daily life.
While entering into the room, do not be either fast or slow; keep your pace moderate. Most of the times, candidates try to reach the chair as soon as possible. Be patient! Do not be in a hurry. Take your time and walk with firm steps.
Sit into the chair, gracefully, after opening the button of your coat. Do not spread your legs far apart. Most of the candidates join both of their legs, and move their feet under the chair. Do not do this mistake. Your legs should be open, having as much distance as is comfortable for you, but that distance should not be very large. Put your feet firmly on the ground.
While sitting, do not move your legs towards the panel. It shows careless, over-relaxed and unprofessional attitude. Retain the 90 degree angle made at your knee.
Apart from this, do not cross your legs. Depending on the context, it shows that either you are indicating not to share your thoughts, or being over-confident and authoritative. Both of these things signals are not welcomed by the panel.
Last but not the least, do not clasp your knees (putting hands on knees). Also, avoid shifting your weight on the feet. It shows that the person wants to get up and leave. It would give panel an indication that either you are in a hurry (not a calm personality) or you are uncomfortable and just want to go away.
Best of luck for the interview....
