HOW TO BUY BOOKS FOR CSS?
“Which
books should I buy for preparation of CSS?” This is one of the Frequently Asked
Questions by CSS aspirants. In this write-up, I shall try to answer this
question in a generic way so that every aspirant could get benefit from it. The
first thing that an aspirant needs to do is downloading/ printing the syllabus
of CSS. The second step is highlighting your subjects. After that, you need to go
to market to buy the books. Sometimes, while buying the books you need to make
a tradeoff between the quality of a book and their contents. For-example, if
you buy a book of a very good author on International Relations but it does not
cover topics of the syllabus, it is of no use. Apart from that an average book
covering most of the syllabus would suffice along with other material about
which I would write in my next articles. What you need to do is opening the
syllabus of a subject and matching it with the contents of the books. Buy the
book which covers most of the syllabus. But beware! Do not buy a book in which
material from Wikipedia is copied.
Apart
from that, there are some mandatory books for some subjects and they cover the
whole of the syllabus. These are:
i. Islamic Studies book by Karimdad Chughtai
(For both English and Urdu).
ii.
General Science and Ability book by Mian
Shafiq.
iii. Notes of Pakistan Affairs by Virtual University.
They would cover all the history portion and the rest of syllabus would be
covered with Current Affairs. The link to these notes is: https://thebureaucrat46.blogspot.com/2019/12/pakistan-affairs-notes.html.
iv. English Composition book by Wren and Martin.
